Project Name:

Carquinez Bridge Temporary Trestle

Location: Carquinez, California

Owner: California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)

Description of Project, Scope of Work Performed:

Power Engineering Contractors drove 24” steel piles to construct  a timber access causeway for the construction of the new Carquinez Bridge.  Power Engineering worked in the currents and shipping traffic of the Carquinez Strait.  Also, we coordinated our daily operations with the Coast Guard.  Power Engineering used our own barge, tug and crane to perform the work.  The work was completed in a sensitive fish spawning area necessitating a rigorous schedule to avoid $10K per day liquidated damages if the project ran over.
